TRAINING
Festival d’Aix-en-Provence
for singers and pianists
27 February - 03 March 2018
Festival d’Aix-en-Provence
This is the course for you if you believe that musicians are versatile artists and loyal citizens who want the art they passionately endorse to reach the masses and if you believe that their ability to interact with audiences (no matter if they’re newcomers, youngsters or remote) is both asset and source of mutual benefit!
Since 2011, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence gives the opportunity to young professional musicians interested in education and outreach to take part to a training which focuses on the transmission of music to young people and those unable to go to performances, as well as on its initiation and its discovery. This training provides young professionals with improvisation and creation techniques to touch and interact with these audiences.
The “outreach skills workshop for singers and pianists” takes place in Aix-en-Provence and is directed by Mark Withers (clarinetist and community education project leader (LSO Dicovery, etc.)) and Joseph Alford (stage director).
The session will use a creative process of experimentation and improvisation for singers from all backgrounds and musical genres (classical, jazz, current and traditional music, etc.). The idea is to help artists find a job as well as to fuel their personal quest for excellence and their drive to share their art.
The artists will have the chance to put what they’ve learnt into practice with field projects in partnership with Passerelles (the Festival’s education and outreach department).
- the artist must be connected to one of the 13 enoa member institutions
- the artist must contact his/her sending institution, which decides if they recommend his/her application
- the hosting institution confirms the list of participants after the registration deadline
- the network assumes the responsibility for the training fees, the costs of accommodation and travel
- per-diem are paid or not according to each institution’s internal rules
