Rita Garcia Fernandes (Lisbon, 1989) holds a degree in Journalism and a post-graduation degree in Storytelling (best student of the 2017's class).
Recently she won the Young Creators Scholarship 2017, supported by the Portuguese National Center of Culture, for the creation of a novel.
Rita is the author of the children's book As Cores da Cidade Cinzenta (2016), commissioned by High Commission for Migration and distributed in all public kindergartens of Portugal - more than 3.500 schools all over the country.
She took part of the enoa Orpheus Workshop (Brussels, 2016), the Music Theatre Creation LAB (Helsinki, 2016) and the Orpheus Project LAB tutored by the writer Gonçalo M. Tavares (Lisbon, 2017). She also joined the Opera-Making & Writing Workshop with the composer Julian Philips and the writer Stephen Plaice (Lisbon, 2016).
Rita is the author of the Outra Margem libretto, whose idea comes from a true story related to her family.
Her literary works were awarded with the Divergência Award (Portugal, 2016) and the II Cidade Poesia Award (Brazil, 2011). She also won the Honorable Mention of the LiteraCidade Award (Brazil, 2016) and the Honorable Mention of IV Cidade Poesia Award (Brazil, 2015).
