La Monnaie I De Munt

Writing and composing opera & challenges facing our society

in the frame of the creation of Cassandra

19 - 23 September 2023

La Monnaie I De Munt

As la Monnaie has taken at heart to bringing new narratives and anchoring opera in the 21st century challenges over the past years, the institution also wants to share its knowledge and experience to future generation of artists to make them change makers.

This workshop will take place in the frame of the Cassandra/Brussels 2030 festival and will share several proposals in common, of course as a live performance of Cassandra.

The participants will be able to attend conferences of the festival but also to work around the following modules and questions :

> Module 1 / Contemporary challenges

> Module 2 / Community aspects

> Module 3 / New narratives

A short team assignment will be proposed to the artists (more information about that project will be send out to the selected participants in August) and time will be dedicated to preparing that small project/presentation.

A facilitator will be present during all of the workshop in order to be the main point of contact of the artists and speakers, to help with having an inclusive, objective and diverse dialogue around the topics that will be tackled.
